What Size and How Many Black and White Dinner Candles Do You Need?

Choose the height for the look you want and the set size for how many candles your table or event needs. The set quantity is the total across both colors in this multipack, divided evenly (e.g. 100 = 50 black + 50 white). Each size is an ultra-thin colored taper. Check the diameter in the size table before ordering, as standard candlesticks may require an adapter. For a long dinner, check the burn time below so the tapers do not look stumpy before the evening ends.

How to Style a Black-and-White Candle Table

Style the set, a gift-ready bundle, by alternating black and white down the center of the table for a clean, monochrome line that still feels cozy. The tapers also add height beyond the table, on a console or a mantel, in a multicolor display alongside another color set..

Monochrome centerpiece. Alternate the two shades in a row of matching candlesticks down the middle.
Place settings. Set one black and one white taper at each seat for a balanced look.
Console and mantel. Stand a few in holders to fill in height on a console or a mantel, with linen and stoneware.

Trim the wick to about a quarter inch, keep the candles clear of drafts, and snuff them out rather than blowing them.

Trim the Wick
Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before lighting. A longer wick can produce a taller flame, smoke, and uneven burning.
Check the Holder
Use a sturdy, heat-resistant holder that fits the listed diameter and keeps the thin taper completely upright.
Avoid Drafts
Burn in a ventilated room, away from windows, fans, and vents. Moving air causes flickering, smoke, and dripping.
Keep Flames Apart
Place burning skinny tapers at least 3 inches apart. Keep them within sight and away from children, pets, and anything flammable.
Stop Before the Holder
Extinguish the candle before the flame reaches the holder. Use a snuffer and let the wax and holder cool before touching.
Store Flat and Cool
Keep unused tapers flat, away from heat and direct sun, so the slim wax does not bend.
