Every Closterra thin taper begins with beeswax sourced from Spain. It is hand-dipped at our family-owned production facility in Lithuania, one fine layer at a time, then hand-packed in the United States.

Made Slowly, Layer by Layer

There is a reason a hand-dipped taper looks and feels different. Its shape is not created in a single pour. It is built gradually as a cotton wick is dipped into melted beeswax, lifted, cooled, and dipped again. Each pass adds another fine layer until a slim candle has taken shape.

This is how Closterra thin taper candles are made at our family-owned production facility in Lithuania. The method asks for time and attention, but it also keeps the material at the center of the process. What reaches your home is an honest beeswax candle with a warm flame, a naturally subtle honey aroma, and a slender form made for intentional moments and everyday light.

It Begins with Spanish Beeswax

The wax used in every Closterra candle is sourced from Spain and sent to our production facility in Lithuania. The wax base is 100% beeswax. It is not blended with paraffin, soy wax, or filler waxes.

Beeswax is a natural material, so its shade and aroma can vary slightly. Natural yellow beeswax may range from soft gold to a deeper amber tone, and its delicate honey note may be more noticeable in one batch than another. These variations are part of the material itself, not imperfections.

We do not add fragrance oils, perfume, or essential oils. The light aroma comes from the beeswax alone.

Natural or Colored, Always Clearly Disclosed

Before dipping begins, the wax is prepared for the candle being made.

Our natural yellow thin tapers are undyed. They contain no added color, so the warm golden shade comes directly from the beeswax.

Our white, black, red, green, blue, and purple thin tapers use a 100% beeswax base colored with certified German candle dyes made specifically for candle production. The color is blended into the wax before dipping, so it runs through the candle rather than sitting only on the surface. White is a colored candle too. It is not naturally white or bleached white.

Color is the only addition used when a colored candle calls for it. No added fragrance, perfume, fragrance oils, or essential oils are used in either the natural or colored collection.

Dipped by Hand in Lithuania

A cotton wick is lowered into melted beeswax, then lifted and allowed to cool. The same movement is repeated again and again. With every dip, a new layer of wax settles around the wick and the taper grows a little wider.

This repeated hand-dipping creates the long, slim silhouette that defines Closterra thin taper candles. The candle is built gradually rather than poured into a mold. Its form comes from accumulated layers of beeswax, time, and the practiced rhythm of the dipping process.

The result is deliberately slender. Depending on the size, current Closterra thin tapers measure approximately 0.20 to 0.33 inches in diameter and offer approximate burn times from 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Hand-Packed in the United States

After production in Lithuania, the finished candles come to the United States, where they are packed by hand for their final journey.

Color, Only Where Needed

Our natural yellow tapers are undyed. White, black, red, green, blue, and purple tapers use certified German candle dyes blended into the beeswax before dipping, so the color runs through the entire candle. No fragrance is added.

100% Beeswax Base

The wax in every current Closterra candle is 100% beeswax sourced from Spain. It is not blended with paraffin, soy wax, or filler waxes and carries only its own subtle, natural honey aroma.

Cotton Wick

Every current Closterra candle uses a cotton wick. Paired with the right candle size, it supports a steady, even flame while preserving the natural character of the beeswax.

A Burn Time for Every Moment

Beeswax gives our thin tapers the firm structure and steady flame we want. Instead of relying on one general burn-time promise, we publish the length, diameter, and approximate burn time of every size.

Our current thin tapers offer approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes of candlelight, so you can choose a size that suits a brief pause, a shared meal, or a longer evening at home.

Clean and Non-Toxic Closterra Candles

Closterra candles are non-toxic and made with a wax base of 100% beeswax and a cotton wick. The only aroma comes naturally from the beeswax itself. It is subtle, warm, and may recall honey, with the natural yellow candles generally carrying the most noticeable aroma.

Closterra candles are also pet-safe. This describes the candle formula and does not remove the normal precautions required around a burning candle.

Questions & Answers

What is the pale film that can appear on beeswax?

Beeswax can naturally develop a fine whitish surface film called bloom. It is made of tiny wax crystals and does not mean that the candle has spoiled or become defective. Bloom does not prevent the candle from burning. If you prefer a polished surface, gently buff the candle with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.

How should unused thin taper candles be stored?

Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, radiators, and other sources of heat. Store thin tapers flat or fully supported so they do not develop a curve, and keep them covered or in their packaging to protect the surface and wick from dust.

What should I do if a thin taper bends?

Beeswax becomes more flexible when warm, so a slender candle may bend if it is stored in a hot place. Move it to a cool room and allow it to return to room temperature. Do not light a candle that cannot stand straight and securely in its holder. If it remains bent or unstable, contact us before using it.

How should I remove beeswax left in a candle holder?

Allow the wax and holder to cool completely, then follow the holder manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Remove solid wax gently so the holder is not scratched or cracked. Never pour melted wax into a sink or drain.
