Before You Light

A simple sequence for lighting a ritual candle with intention. Move through the steps at your own pace, in whatever order suits your practice.

  • Clear your space

    Take a quiet moment to settle and center your mind.

  • Set your intention

    Name what you want to focus on, in a word or a sentence.

  • Prepare the candle (optional)

    Hold the taper, or dress it with a little oil or a matching herb to specify your intent.

  • Light and focus

    Light the flame and let its clean, steady light hold your intention.

  • Burn safely

    Place your beeswax taper in a stable, heat-safe holder on a level surface, away from drafts, curtains, and anything flammable. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

  • Close the ritual

    When the working is done, snuff the flame rather than blowing it out, and take a moment to note anything that shifted before you step away.

These are thin beeswax tapers, hand dipped one layer at a time. Most spell candles on the market are paraffin, dyed through and quick to gutter. Ours are made from a 100% beeswax base with a cotton wick, and the difference shows in the flame: steady, quiet, and clean enough to burn on an altar in a small room without filling it with smoke or scent.

These tapers are sold singly and in sets, so you can take one candle for one working or a set for something that runs over several days. They suit candle magick, spell casting, cleansing, meditation and any of the spiritual practices where a flame marks the beginning and the end of something.

The candles are hand dipped at our family's own facility from Spanish beeswax, then checked and packed by hand in the United States. The natural tapers are entirely undyed. The colored ones are the same beeswax base with a certified candle dye blended in before dipping, so the color runs through the whole candle rather than sitting on the surface. That is the only thing added to any of them.

How Do You Use a Spell Candle?

At its simplest: choose a color that matches your intention, set the candle somewhere safe and still, light it, and hold your focus while it burns. Many practitioners do more. Some cleanse the candle first to clear any energy it picked up on the way, some scribe a word or a symbol into the wax, some dress it with oil. What Is the Difference Between These Tapers and Chime Candles?

Size and material, mostly. Chime candles are short, about four inches, usually paraffin, and made to burn down quickly in a single working. Our tapers are longer and hand dipped from beeswax, so they burn slower and cleaner and last through a longer sitting. If your practice depends on a candle finishing in twenty minutes, a chime is the tool. If you want a cleaner flame and more time with it, this is.

Can I Burn a Ritual Candle All the Way Down in One Sitting?

Yes, and the size decides how long that takes. Burn times run from about 30 minutes for the shortest taper up to roughly two and a half hours for the tallest, with each size listed on its own page. Pick the one that matches the time you can give it, since a working that needs the candle to finish is easier to plan than to rescue halfway through.

Are These Candles Guaranteed to Work?

No, and we would be wary of anyone who told you otherwise. These are sold as a curio. They are a well made tool for focus and intention, not a promise of an outcome, and they are not about influencing anyone else. What the candle does is hold your attention steadily for as long as it burns. The rest is your practice.

Are These Real Beeswax, and Are They Pet-Safe?

Yes. A 100% beeswax base with a cotton wick and no added fragrance. Our natural yellow taper is undyed; the black, red, and green tapers are hand-dipped in beeswax tinted with certified German candle dyes, so the color runs all the way through. They are a pet-safe choice when used as directed, with the usual care around any open flame.
